About Me...

 

 

Connie Schindewolf, an award-winning playwright in the Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida area, lives with her husband, Ray, and her daughter, Jamie.  She received a BSE in Theatre Education from Truman State University and an MA from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.  After teaching drama, including playwriting, for 25 years in the St. Louis area, she moved to Bradenton where she has more time to write.

 

  

Her "Tide Line of July 15th" was produced by Sarasota's Theatre Odyssey in 2007, and since then they have produced 12 of her short plays, and she has won four of their awards, including "Best Play" twice.  In 2010 she was one of the winning playwrights in Colorado's Six Women Playwriting Festival with "The Silence". She has been a Fusion Theatre's "The Seven" finalist three times in Albuquerque, NM.  Her first full-length, "Let Me Be Frank" was selected to be part of Sarasota's Players Theatre New Play Festival in 2012 and again in 2015, and was a semi-finalist in the SETC 2015-2016 Charles M. Getchell New Play Award. Her new full-length, "Mammoth Bones" had a production at the Players Centre For the Arts in Sarasota, August 22-27, 2017 in their back stage theatre. In the last nine years Connie has had productions across the United States (including NYC and LA), Australia, Canada, and the UK.  She is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, and when she's not writing, she's saving sea turtles.
  
 
 

 

What's new?

NYC Playwrights Podcast will include Connie's monologue, "I Lost It At The DMV" in their next Podcast with the theme of Rants and Waves. 

 

Connie, along with 5 other playwrights across the United States has been accepted to Clamour Theatre's Playwrights' Retreat outside of Jacksonville, Florida January 26th-February 1st.

 

"Memory Card" will be part of Short & Sweet in Sydney, Australia in February of 2019. 

 

"Memory Card" was recently published by Smith & Kraus in their Best Ten-Minute Plays of 2018.

 

Gulfport  Community Players produced "Sleep Potato Vine" for their Summer One-Acts, July 12-22 at the Catherine Hickman Theatre in Gulfport, Florida.

 

"The Grout Fairy" was part of Academy Theatre's Tapas III:The Reckoning in Hapeville, Georgia June 8-24.

 

Lakeshore  Players in White Bear Lake, MN produced 

"The Grout Fairy" May 31-June 10 as part of their 10-Minute Play

Festival.

 

"The Dancing Lessons"  won 1st Place-Judges Choice and 2nd Place-

People's Choice in Short & Sweet Sydney.
