About Me...

Connie Schindewolf, an award-winning playwright, lives in the Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida area. She received a BSE in Theatre Education from Truman State University and an MA from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.  After teaching drama, including playwriting, for 25 years in the St. Louis area, she moved to Bradenton where she has more time to write.

Her "Tide Line of July 15th" was produced by Sarasota's Theatre Odyssey in 2007, and since then they have produced 15 of her short plays, and she has won four of their awards, including "Best Play" twice.  In 2010 she was one of the winning playwrights in Colorado's Six Women Playwriting Festival with "The Silence". She has been a Fusion Theatre's "The Seven" finalist three times in Albuquerque, NM, and in 2020 Barrington Stage produced "5 Seconds". Her first full-length, "Let Me Be Frank" was selected to be part of Sarasota's Players Theatre New Play Festival in 2012 and again in 2015, and was a semi-finalist in the SETC 2015-2016 Charles M. Getchell New Play Award. Her full-length, "Mammoth Bones" had a production at the Players Centre For the Arts in Sarasota, August 22-27, 2017 in their back stage theatre. Gulfport Community Players produced her full-length, "Take The Couch" in 2019 and also that year Clamour Theatre selected Connie for their Playwrights Retreat where they helped her develop "Bloodlines".  In the last ten years Connie has had productions across the United States (including NYC and LA), Australia, Canada, the UK, and the United Arab Emirates.  She is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, and when she's not writing, she's saving sea turtles.
