About Me...



Connie Schindewolf, an award-winning playwright, lives in the Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida area. She received a BSE in Theatre Education from Truman State University and an MA from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.  After teaching drama, including playwriting, for 25 years in the St. Louis area, she moved to Bradenton where she has more time to write.



Her "Tide Line of July 15th" was produced by Sarasota's Theatre Odyssey in 2007, and since then they have produced 13 of her short plays, and she has won four of their awards, including "Best Play" twice.  In 2010 she was one of the winning playwrights in Colorado's Six Women Playwriting Festival with "The Silence". She has been a Fusion Theatre's "The Seven" finalist three times in Albuquerque, NM.  Her first full-length, "Let Me Be Frank" was selected to be part of Sarasota's Players Theatre New Play Festival in 2012 and again in 2015, and was a semi-finalist in the SETC 2015-2016 Charles M. Getchell New Play Award. Her full-length, "Mammoth Bones" had a production at the Players Centre For the Arts in Sarasota, August 22-27, 2017 in their back stage theatre. In the last ten years Connie has had productions across the United States (including NYC and LA), Australia, Canada, the UK, and the United Arab Emirates.  She is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, and when she's not writing, she's saving sea turtles.

 Barrington Stage Company has selected "Five Seconds" as part of its 10 x 10 Festival in Pittsfield, MA February 16-March 8.


"The Grout Fairy" will be part of Short & Sweet Sydney February-April in Sydney, Australia.


"I"m Not You" is one of 4 winning plays to be part of the Naples Players One Act Competition January 19th in Naples, Florida at the Tobye Studio Theatre. 


Gulfport Community Players in Gulfport, Florida produced Connie's Full-length play, "Take The Couch" November 7th-17th at the Catherine Hickman Theater.


"Chopping Celery" was part of the Quannapowitt Players Suburban Holidays November 29th-December 7th in Reading, MA.


Connie's full-length play, "Bloodlines" was part of the Players Centre for the Arts New Play Festival in Sarasota, Florida on August 7th. 


"Medical Records" was shortlisted by Kibo Productions for their AMPLIFY production for female playwrights.


"The Grout Fairy" was part of the Gulfport Community Players Summer One Acts July 11-21 in Gulfport, Florida and voted "Favorite Play".


"Housekeeping" was produced May 10th and 11th by the Stage Crafters Community Theatre in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.


"Life on Earth" was featured at the Asolo's Cook Theatre May 9-12 as part of Theatre Odyssey's Ten-Minute Festival in Sarasota, Florida.


"Memory Card" is now available from Smith & Kraus in their Best Ten-Minute Plays of 2018.
